2010 helmet regulations

Affecting Bambino, Cadet and Juniors

With effect from the 1st January 2010 it will be mandatory for all under 15 years of age racing in Europe to wear a helmet approved under Snell CMR/CMS 2007 standard. This is a new standard for children’s helmets that covers shell size and weight. It has been introduced as there was concern about children wearing a helmet designed for an adult which has tended to be larger and heavier.

The standard is to be introduced in the UK with effect from 1st January 2011 for Cadets and from the 1st January 2013 for all under 15’s. The standard is mandatory for Bambinos with effect from 1st January 2010. Above details released January 2010.
