John Surtees Names “Henry’s” in memory of his son

Henry Surtees Commemorative Meeting 18/7

John Surtees OBE names Henry's Bend

The BPKC meeting on the 18th of July was held in memory of Henry, who died aged 18 years and 5 months in a freak accident at Brands Hatch. Henry first drove a kart at Buckmore Park as an 8 year old.

John Surtees and family have decided to form a foundation in Henry’s name, which is initially in aid of the Headway charity (Tunbridge Wells). BPKC donated £5 from every race entry fee for this race and the collection buckets raised another £372.

During the break John Surtees renamed Turn 2 “Henry’s” in his son’s memory.
The Honda Cadet winners were also presented with special ‘H’ Henry Surtees commemorative trophies.
