Plenty to celebrate at Awards Dinner

Johnny Mowlem presents the Awards

The 20th BPKC Annual Award Presentation Dinner was held on the 27th of February at the Ramada Hotel and Resort at Hollingbourne Nr Maidstone who again looked after the nearly 300 guests superbly.

This year we had plenty to celebrate with no fewer than five BPKC members achieving success in British/National and European Championships. We also have no fewer than three BPKDC members heading off to Paris in April to compete in the World Finals of the Sodi World Series.

As is customary on these occasions a special guest from the world of motorsport is invited to present the awards and this year we were lucky enough to have the company of sports car legend Johnny Mowlem. Johnny is one of the world’s best sports car GT drivers. He has won class victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona and class podiums at most major sports car races in the world. Johnny operates his own driving academy, working with both corporate clients and drivers wishing for a career in racing. We were both honoured and very lucky to have his company for which we would like to publicly thank him here.

Chris Pullman again put on a very slick show ably assisted as always by his wife Lorraine, club secretary Sheila Rose and Anne-Marie Lepine. The commentator was our club stalwart Alan Smallman who delivered his words in his usual inimitable style. Gary Kimber of Southern Karting Magazine was on hand to provide photos of the winners and coverage in his excellent publication. He was ably assisted by Martin Clarke. Thanks to all the above and many more who worked behind the scenes to make the event such a great night. Over one hundred trophies were won by drivers across the various clubs that make up the full Buckmore package.
