Buckmore Park Kart Club has won a very prestigious award in the JLT Sport MSA Club of the Year Awards. All clubs are eligible for entry, there are over 750 MSA recognised clubs, and after the judging Buckmore emerged as the highest ranking Kart Club.

Buckmore Park Kart Club (BPKC) is the club which looks after all owner/driver activities at the circuit, from Bambino to Rotax senior. The club has been very proactive in bringing more people into the sport through pioneering work with the embryonic Bambino class and Let’s Go Karting scheme. This was recognised by the judging committee when choosing the winning clubs. Buckmore was the highest finishing kart club and was in the top three overall, the winner and runner up being Chelmsford Motor Club and Castle Combe Racing Club respectively. BPKC are awarded a cheque for £250 and an MSA Bronze Flag Trophy.

Announcing the awards the committee made the following comments:

“Buckmore Park Kart Club, although based on a commercial organisation, has done much over the years to increase participation in motor sport by younger members. They are also closely involved at the higher levels of the sport with several successful initiatives during 2009 alone. Despite being a nationally recognised centre of excellence, they take the time to attend Regional association meetings and contribute well to discussions. They are an important component of motor sport in the South East area.

The club continues to work tirelessly to increase participation, and has already undertaken training for over 300 6-7 year old Bambino Karters ahead of the formal introduction of this class for 2010 by the MSA. They are designated as a Playing for Success site — one of only 3 motorsport sites in the UK — in partnership with the Department for Children, Schools and Families and Kent County Council, aimed to provide exciting learning opportunities outside normal school hours. They also work with Kent Road Safety on awareness programmes and pre-driver training from the age of 11. As supporters of the MSA Lets Go Karting Scheme they introduced nearly 550 people into karting through this programme last year, and similar results are anticipated for 2009. They promote
themselves at both local and national shows, including the Kent County Show and the Autosport International Exhibition. They have active initiatives to attract and retain marshals and other volunteer officials, have a working relationship with Mid Kent College to provide student experiences, and have opened a learning Zone at Buckmore Park in 2009.”

Club Chairman and Buckmore boss Bill Sisley is delighted with the award and says "credit for this success is in no small part due to the effort, enthusiasm and sheer hard work put in by Chris Pullman, ably assisted by Club Secretary Sheila Rose and all of the marshals and other officials who brave the elements each month come rain or shine to make the Club the success it is".

Press release dated 27th November 2009.
